This was the wisdom my Dad gave to me many years ago when I told him I didn’t want to do some chores around the house.
The same now applies to many of the changes we have to put in place for our schools to survive.
You don’t have to WANT to:
- Teach online
- Practise social distancing / no contact (who would have thunk it, the “no touch knockout” guys were right all along!)
- Fill out all the paperwork to get access to any assistance
- Learn new I.T. skills (yes, I have tried turning it off and turning it on again)
- Turn up day after day, full of energy and with a big smile on your face, when it feels like everything you have spent years creating is falling apart around you…
You just have to do it.
We’ve always taught resilience, fortitude, and positive mindset. Now’s the time to dig in an practice what we preach.
You might think that what you’re doing is only a shadow of what you gave your students before, but they absolutely appreciate everything you are doing to stay connected with them.
